It's been a long while...

Whoa, who put the brakes on this blog? Oh, yeah...I did. There's a lot of pressure on me lately, and although I don't like feeling overwhelmed, I'd rather be too busy than not busy enough. So, allow me to vent here, my beautiful blog, to help relieve the stress of my daily woe's.

Today I'm thinking about love. As in..."All you need is...".

I want love like it is in the movies. The good kind. I get made fun of for my sometimes-love of chick flicks. So, here are a couple of quotes from some I've seen lately...or some that I just love in general:

"BECAUSE I SAID SO"
Milly: You and my mom have been totally scheming. And...and...and...and now I know exactly why she pushed me on you because she was voting for you. She found you.
Jason: Yeah but that doesn't take anything away from us. What matters is that we did meet, and how good this is between us. And the truth of that...
Milly: The truth. Where is the truth? Where is the truth, because you've been living a lie and I've been lying to you, Jason.
Jason: Yeah, but that doesn't change anything.
Milly: How does that not change...everything?
Jason: Because you're here. I think you already made your choice. But if it helps I'll say it. Stop seeing him. Then you and I can get closer. Close enough to spend the rest of our lives together. I knew I had you the day I met you.
Milly: How could you know something like that?
Jason: Because you were so nervous you laughed like a hyena, in that beautiful polka-dot dress of yours.
Milly: Really? I'll tell you one thing though. You did not have me the moment that we met because I wasn't even sure I liked the fact that your staff talked about you behind your back at the dessert table. And excuse me, but truth be told, I didn't like anything that you ordered for me on our first date...except the calamari. And ok fine, yes, it was nice to not have to think for a change, but who wants someone that doesn't think? And look! And sometimes you laugh when I cry, and you say "huh" when I make perfect sense. And never ever in my life have I burnt a chocolate suffle until now, and that in and of itself... oh my god...should have told me I don't feel like myself around you. And I would have decided that a long time ago if it weren't for my mother. Because who wants someone who laughs like a hyena in a polka dot dress that my mother made me buy?
Jason: I love that dress.
Milly: Take her out.

Milly: See that's the fun of the Tuna Pasta Toss. Because it's fun and it's easy. And when you're cooking for one, it's really important to look forward to the end result. You know?
Johnny: What if you want to make it for two?
Milly: It's a little bit more complicated, but I think it can be done. Um... I see some of you have already gone ahead and added your carrots and your pickled relish and remember that some people like dill.
Johnny: Even before I met you I had an instinct about you. Once I saw you were a woman with profound static cling I wanted to be that force around you.
Milly: Personally I love dill. I think it's not used enough and very underated, sorta like mayonaisse and I also really love olive oil for tuna.
Johnny: I love that when I breathe you in you smell like cake batter. And I love that you have this insane way of talking in circles that makes perfect sense.
Milly: [shocked] I do? Cause sometimes I feel like nobody understands me. But...
Johnny: Me. I get you. Cooking Class Student: That's wonderful, but you know my bladder is about to pop.
Johnny: Can you hold it for a minute? Cooking Class Student: [shrugs]
Milly: [laughs nervously] I'm sorry, I'm sorry guys. Where were we? With the tuna pasta and the tuna noodle doodles. And the tuna sandwhiches, tuna...
Johnny: [takes Milly into his arms] I love your eyes. I even love... your mother.
Milly: [smiles. Kisses Johnny. Rest of class pairs off and kisses as well]

"THE HOLIDAY"
Iris: I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I've been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can't swallow! All the usual symptoms.

Iris: I understand feeling as small and as insignificant as humanly possible. And how it can actually ache in places you didn't know you had inside you. And it doesn't matter how many new haircuts you get, or gyms you join, or how many glasses of chardonnay you drink with your girlfriends... you still go to bed every night going over every detail and wonder what you did wrong or how you could have misunderstood. And how in the hell for that brief moment you could think that you were that happy. And sometimes you can even convince yourself that he'll see the light and show up at your door. And after all that, however long all that may be, you'll go somewhere new. And you'll meet people who make you feel worthwhile again. And little pieces of your soul will finally come back. And all that fuzzy stuff, those years of your life that you wasted, that will eventually begin to fade.

"LATTER DAYS"
Christian: God I hate the snow.
Elder Aaron Davis: What are you doing here?
Christian: I came after you. How could you just leave without saying anything.
Elder Aaron Davis: It's not my choice, I am being sent home in shame. And I'm probably going to be excommunicated.
Christian: For a kiss? I mean it was a very nice kiss, but come on. We didn't even get to use our tongues.
Elder Aaron Davis: You wouldn't understand.
Christian: I'm sorry, I'm not very good at this. See, I've never made a fool out of myself in front of anyone before. But I've never felt this way before about anyone in my entire life.
Elder Aaron Davis: What for just some guy you can't have. And next week you'll be on to your next conquest?
Christian: But what if you're not? Huh? What if everything in my entire pathetic life, which I happen to love, has led to this point? Right here, right now. What if you're the blinding light in the middle of the road that strikes me like that guy, the guy in...
Elder Aaron Davis: The Bible?
Christian: Yeah.
Elder Aaron Davis: Paul.
Christian: Yeah. And what if everything has changed like that... and lions lay down with lambs and colors mix with whites. What if you're the one that I've been waiting for my whole life and I let you go?
Elder Aaron Davis: You have no idea what I'd be giving up.
Christian: Damn it! What is wrong with you? You want revelations engraved in gold and angels trumpting down from heaven? But what if this is it instead? Me, telling you I love you, right here, in the snow? I think that is pretty miraculous. But if you don't... I'll go. I'll walk and you can pretend that this was just some coincidence. You can pretend there wasn't some reason that we met, and that you're sorry I ever walked into you life.
[Christian walk to the door, but it won't open]
Christian: God, I hate the snow.
[Aaron grabs him and gives him a passionate kiss]

"Never Been Kissed"
Josie Geller: I've kissed a guy. I've kissed guys. I just haven't felt that thing. That thing, that moment, when you kiss someone and everything around becomes hazy and the only thing in focus is you and this person and you realize that that person is the only person that you're supposed to kiss for the rest of your life, and for one moment you get this amazing gift and you want to laugh and you want to cry because you feel so lucky that you found it and so scared that that it will go away all at the same time.
Cynthia: Damn girl... you are a writer.

"Meet Joe Black"
William Parrish: Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.

William Parrish: I want you to get swept away. I want you to levitate. I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish.

Disney's "Pocahontas"
John Smith: I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you.

"Les Miserables"
Jean Valjean: And remember, as it was written, to love another person is to see the face of God.

Smile, Kellan!!!

john-ashley-kellan, originally uploaded by jhartnow.

These actors stand in a teeny-small room and thousands of fans shuffle through to get their pictures made with them. THOUSANDS. This was Kellan and Ashley's second day of photo shoots, and I can tell you first hand...smiling for extended periods of time HURTS!!!!

Bella's Green Floral Burn-Out Hoodie

Green floral hoodie, originally uploaded by jhartnow.

Here is a picture of the hoodie in outdoor lighting. It's more of an olive green than grey in person, and the use of special lighting in the film makes it appear different colors. See pictures from the film below.

The Twilight Costume Collection

Bella's green floral hoodie, originally uploaded by jhartnow.

My most recent addition to The Twilight Costume Collection is Bella's green floral burn-out hoodie. This is a very important piece, as it's worn in the film longer than any other top. First seen in the "I have a date with Edward Cullen" scene, Bella wears this hoodie to the Vampire Baseball game and subsequently at her house as she packs, the Cullens foyer & garage and finally in Carlisle's Mercedes as Alice and Jasper take her to Phoenix. Here are screen caps of Kristen Stewart wearing the top in all of the featured scenes. Click on the image to see the pictures in a larger format.

I loved Edward Before The Movie...

I just felt like posting this bumper sticker that I made when I first heard that TWILIGHT was being made into a film. o_O

Twilight dolls

Amazon-Edward-Prom2, originally uploaded by jhartnow.

By far, the Robert Tonner TWILIGHT dolls are reigning the market over all other Twilight figures and collectables. Last years release of Bella and Edward was followed recently by "Hungry" Edward, a limited release of 300 dolls at the San Diego Comic Con. Just announced was Tonner's Edward and Bella in their prom costumes from TWILIGHT, available only through AMAZON.COM this October. Knowing Tonner, the outfits will be of superior quality.

In November, Mattel will be releasing their Twilight dolls of Edward and Bella, both dressed in their iconic "forest" costumes. Edward sparkles...a first for any official Edward Cullen doll or figure.

Love Song

The-Him, originally uploaded by jhartnow.

Head under water
And you tell me to breathe easy for a while
breathing gets harder, even I know that
You made room for me but it's too soon to see
If I'm happy in your hands

I'm unusually hard to hold on to
Blank stares at blank pages
No easy way to say this
You mean well, but you make this hard on me
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it
Makes a break in this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today

I learned the hard way
That they all say things you want to hear
And my heavy heart sinks deep down under you and
Your twisted words,
Your help just hurts
You are not what I thought you were
Hello to high and dry
Convinced me to please you
Made me think that I need this too
I'm trying to let you hear me as I am

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's
Make or breaking this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today

Promise me that you'll leave the light on
To help me see with daylight, my guide, gone
'cause I believe there's a way you can love me
Because I say
I won't write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's make or breaking this
Is that why you wanted a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's make or breaking this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If your heart is nowhere in it
I don't want it for a minute
Babe, I'll walk the seven seas when I believe that
There's a reason to
Write you a love song today

Xavier Roberts

john-xavier-2, originally uploaded by jhartnow.

Many of you who know me know that I've been an avid collector of Xavier Robert's LITTLE PEOPLE and CABBAGE PATCH KIDS since their inception in 1978. Here I am with Xavier at the 25th anniversary birthday launch of the original Coleco Cabbage Patch Kids from 1983 at Toys R Us in Times Square. Xavier is a great guy...he even wrote a small forward for my children's book that came out in 2002.
