What good is sitting alone in your room?

Last month I backed up my hardrive with an external. I thought I was being all smarty pants techno-geek. Hey, I used to LOVE Star Trek. But when I did a clean and install on the mac, I lost most of my music and movies. It REALLY sucked to be me. Since then, I've built up another library of music and movies...some of which were the ones I lost in the fire, but not as impressive as the original. It's going to take a lot of work. Anyway, I've been dreading hooking up the iphone and ipod to itunes, since I knew I couldn't keep the media that was there. I bit the bullet last night and started with the iphone. Guess who didn't backup his contacts? Yup. That's right. My entire life is...WAS... stored in that stupid, wonderful little box and I lost everything. So, now it's back to the beginning. Asking people for their phone numbers. If you're reading this and you know me...I need your contact information. Basic stuff like name, number(s), address, blood type.

The Twilight DVD Midnight Release Party

So, as fortunate as I've been to acquire the bits of Twilightdom as I have, I had the pleasure of displaying a few costumes at the Columbia, SC HOT TOPIC store for their DVD release party, held March 20th. Maggie dressed up as Victoria and I was sort of a "Culmination Cullen"...which translated into a hot mess. But, I have to say, being pale and sparkly was the best way to pick up chicks. If, um, I was trying to. Iminlovewithrobpattinson. Ahem. Or was that Amen? So yeah, pale and sparkly...and women...teens...girls...want you to pose for pictures biting their necks. Here are a few photos from the night...

A few of the costumes on display. Alice's "Meet the Cullens" dress, shrug and leggings. Bella's complete "Ballet Studio" costume (the coat was used in other scenes as well), Edward's grey "Crash" jacket from the van scene and Bella's prom dress and sweater.

I really love this jacket:

I swear that I'm not in love with Robert AS Edward. I'm in lust with Robert as Robert. Period. Double period.

The first-edition paperback book I donated as a raffle prize for the evening, signed by Rob, Kristen and Stephenie Meyer. Among other hot items to be given away were a life-size cutout of Edward and a poster signed by Taylor Lautner.

The "refreshment" Table after the party was over at 1am. Nestle Crunch anyone?

As a bit 'o fun after the party was over, I let the HOT TOPIC employees try on some of the costumes. Trey is 6'2...Robert Pattinson's height. He fit nearly perfectly into his size M G-Star jacket from the "Crash" scene in the film.

Excuse me while I zip you up...and button you up. Can I bite you?

Yeah, Trey put the HOT in Hot Topic. I think it was the BEATLES belt buckle. What a swell guy, that Trey.

The days seem to merge seamlessly together...

As my blog title suggests, and at the risk of sounding trite, I'm completely and utterly...irrevocably...in love with a fictional character. I am proud to say that I was a Twilight fan before the hype. Before the movie. Before Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart became household names in every t'weens home. I'm also proud to say that my obsession with making the Twilight world a very tangible thing around me has come with great ease, a little bit of persuasion (also one of Jane Austen's best tales), and money that I didn't really have. Like they say, all things come to those who wait...and to date I am curating the largest private collection of original Twilight film costumes and props. Of course I've bought into all of the "hype". NECA has been a major ball buster on the pocketbook front.

Speaking of which, my newest TWILIGHT prop is Bella's leather handbag, used by Kristen Stewart throughout the film. The original was made by a lovely artist named Angie, who maintains a website called thecraftydevils.com. It's majorly cool. She explains how the initial bag was bought for filming and then a duplicate had to be made ASAP for Kristen's double. She's now making a limited number of these bags, so if you're totally keen on owning a piece of the Twilight film, here's your chance.

The first post...

So, there's much to say but it's the wrong time and place to do it. Just making a mark on blogger, seeing as I haven't had an account here in ages upon ages. I'm thinking that this will be quite cathartic, since my trite and sometimes banal verbose meanderings can be put out into cyberspace instead of dumped on some poor unfortunate soul through email. Good times, good times.
